After booking for the trip as early as June 2013, we finally made the trip to the promised land on 7th March 2014. The first night we stayed in Beit Zaman Hotel, a hotel built like an ancinet castle, in Petra. As the time in Jordan was 5 hours behind Malaysia, we woke up at 2:00 am and couldn't go back to sleep. So we turned on the TV to watch BBC World News, which was just announcing the shocking news of loss of MH370. I was greatly concerned with news, as this was the flight frequently taken by my collegues on hydro projects.
The word pilgrimage has a lot of meaning and connotation. For Christians it involves an arduous journey and preparation to the birth place of Christ, of great moral signifinance and importance to our beliefs and faith.
It is not about sights and sounds, wondrous buildings , spectacular sights, exotic foods or floating in the Dead Sea (of course , you are allowed some fun and recreations!)
There is much truth to the Chinese Proverb which says "Seeing once is better than hearing a hundred times"
